When you get in a situation, what is your first response? Not a good one. When you’re angry can you think? No? I didn’t think so. What happens is that you get ‘white rage’ when you’re angry. ‘Red’ anger is sometimes present, but usually you get that automatic white anger response, right? To prevent this from happening you ought to remember one situation before you dive into another. Think of it like this. When you shout at a person (Bad idea – DO NOT DO!) you are damaging yourself. You get a detention, in-school suspension, expulsion, or a very serious talking-to. Now, remember this when you are heating up to a fight. Students often see a line where they perceive someone as disrespecting them, whether that be teacher or student, and they want to argue; protect themselves from being insulted or shouted at. When you shout at someone you’re shouting for your own defence, but think of it like this; you’re going to make them think that you’re a bad person, and shouty, etc. Now, if you work hard and listen to them you will make them think that you are a model pupil. You do not want to be in a detention; you want to be messing around, doing something else, or eating food. You can avoid all of this by following the emplaced guidelines which are there to help – and if you cross one then that does not mean that you immediately dive into a response. Remember to work hard, especially if you have no current situations with someone else.
