The 1509, which you are reading right now, is the best society and Period 8 option which you can choose.
How can the 1509 society help you:
- The 1509 is great for those in the Sixth Form looking to choose a society to help market themselves to universities. Writing articles for a newspaper makes you look like a more well-rounded individual, can be stuck right in your UCAS reference, and looks great on your CV by highlighting leadership skills, especially if you work hard enough to gain a position (e.g. an editor).
- Writing articles for the 1509 can help improve your literary skills. The society has many esteemed Sixth Formers who can help you become better at writing articles that entice readers to want to read more. The newfound abilities that one can obtain from joining our society will help you in your professional life as well as your school life.
- The 1509 allows you to write about topics that you care about and allows you to express your own opinions. Whether this be your opinions on sports or politics or even issues within the school that you care about, there will always be topics you can write about; the possibilities are endless.
- The 1509 can help you find a way to voice your opinions in a safe environment as well as giving you a platform to express your views to others and try to change their way of thinking.
What makes the 1509 fun
The 1509 as both a Period 8 option and as a society is great fun. In both you are given relative freedom to do what you want. The 1509 has very low pressure and you can send in articles whenever you want to the editors-in-chief. Additionally you can work online as well as in the society or Period 8, meaning that you can make an article within your own time.
The 1509 is also a great society to collaborate with your friends as its very talkative, if you work with others. This is especially beneficial if you are doing it for the UCAS reference as it essentially means you can be in a society where you can talk to your friends, just like you can do at break. So make sure to bring all your friends!
