This article is part of a series of manifestos released for the RGS 2024 Mock General Election. The RGS Reform team outline their plans for the future of our country.

“We’re a change” – George Christiansen, leader of RGS Reform.

Our public services are disintegrating. Our economy is failing. Our country is in precipitous decline.

These are the faults of the Conservative Party; a deeply divided, pitiful party with an inept leader that has presided over 14 years of stagnation and failure. They claim to be the party of low tax, but taxes have never been so high since this country fought a world war. You can’t get a GP appointment and have to wait months if not years for emergency operations. Trains never run on time and our international standing has crumbled. They negotiated a Brexit deal that will cost this country 5% of GDP a year, that’s £180 billion, or 6 Liz Trusses!

Labour is no better. The Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats all stand for the same policies of stagnation, yet they have no actual plan to end the crises of our economy and public services. Reform UK is the only party strong enough to lead the United Kingdom into a prosperous future, rejecting the socialism the other parties have all embraced. It is the only viable alternative to the establishment of stagnation which has left our beloved island nation on its knees. Only Reform has the strength and drive to make Britain great.

Over the past 5 years, we have had 4 Tory Prime Ministers. First was Theresa May, a struggling “leader” who resigned due to her struggles in navigating the polarized political landscape surrounding Brexit. Her Brexit deal was rejected 3 times, she faced opposition from her own party members and she lost a majority back in 2017. Following in her footsteps was Boris Johnson. His lies to the British public and the “Partygate Scandal” demonstrate the Conservative hypocrisy and show how the Tories cannot be trusted. Liz Truss, the third PM, is barely mentionable; her mini-budget disaster, and loss of party support meant that she resigned after a pathetic 44 days, having cost the country £30 billion, and was outlasted by an iceberg lettuce. Now, we are forced to live under the premiership of Rishi Sunak. Rishi, the man who backstabbed his predecessor Boris Johnson, continues to lie day after day, promising us economic security whilst knowing that he has no strategy whatsoever. His plans to regain our favour? Conscript the youth, and stop the boats. With Rish at the helm, this country is surely doomed. What’s more, he plans on introducing a new educational system for post-16 students. His Advanced British Standards (ABS) serve to replace A-Levels, and force students to study English and Mathematics, alongside 3 others, until they leave school aged 18. He plans on not only restricting student freedoms after leaving school through mandatory National Service, but also until the day they graduate. Truth is crystal clear; with the Conservatives in power for yet another 5 years, we will have another constantly quarrelling government, and will be led by a party built on lies.

An incompetent Tory leader who failed to outlast a mere iceberg lettuce

The Labour Party may not have failed as abysmally as the Tories have, but their manifesto and previous track record prove why Keir Starmer should not be allowed to form a government. Half of his shadow cabinet previously voted against Trident, the UK’s nuclear deterrent. Had they been given their way, we would be vulnerable to the imminent threats from nations such as Russia and China. In his manifesto, Starmer, who attended a private school as a child, plans on implementing VAT on private schools, greatly increasing our school fees. In a period of economic instability, Starmergeddon will pressurize many students, with parents who are already struggling to pay for their children’s incessant school fees, to move into the state system. This will put pressure on the already overwhelmed state sector, whilst worsening educational standards for thousands of gifted schoolchildren across the nation.

A representation of the privately-educated Labour leader trying to act as a man of the people.

These are a few of the endless reasons why we should not be living under a Labour or Tory government. They have proven themselves to be incapable of leading the nation, with the latter party being utterly broken and constantly having to deal with internal strife. The Green Party is no better. The watermelons, green on the outside and red on the inside, will bring socialism to this country, making everyone equal; equally poor.

A Rotten Watermelon – Representative of the Green Party

At last, we turn to the Illiberal Democrats. Yet again, the British people are faced with a party responsible for one of the most heinous acts of hypocrisy in political history. In 2010, they pledged to abolish tuition fees for universities. This was an integral part of their campaign. By the end of the same year however, they had tripled fees instead. It is not only the Labour party who wants to harm the education of Britain’s future, but also the Illib-Dems. The coalition agreement allowed them to abstain from voting to raise fees, yet their leader ignored this in a desperate attempt to prove his worth. All he did, however, was betray young people across the United Kingdom. The Illib-Dems cannot be trusted. They are as deceitful as the Conservatives. This is not their only time being caught in a web of lies. Ed Davey, their leader, has links to the Horizon Post Office scandal and was postal minister at the time. The Illib-Dems are weak, confused, and inept. They have little experience running this country. In 2010, they were in the shadows of the Conservatives. A vote for them is a vote to destabilise Britain and a vote to elect a government built on lies.

False promises from a deceitful leader of a party whose previous campaigns were built on lies.

The truth has been elucidated. The Conservatives have ruined our economy and has no hope. The Labour Party wants to raise VAT on private schools, ruin the educational standards for many and has no clear policy. The Liberal Democrats are liars and cannot be trusted. The Green Party has no hope of winning, and will make us poorer. These four will continue the establishment of stagnation and wound our nation in an era where nothing is certain. Apart from this.

Reform UK is our only option. Reform UK is Britain’s only hope.
