For a long time, owning or having a share in gold has been the most secure option for investing in for a long term. However now the times are changing, a new option is entering the market. We are seeing the rise of Lego investments coming. Yes what you just read is correct. Lego sets are being praised for their investment value and opportunities they provide.
When you initially view this, you may think that this is complete nonsense as comparing factory-made bricks to a solid metal extracted from the Earth, the numbers don’t lie. Over the past decade alone, not even counting all of the even older sets, Lego has been outperforming traditional investments tenfold. People from all over the investment industry are wondering where this may have come from. Now why is this the case?
According to surveys done by newspapers, Lego sets have been outperforming both gold and the stock exchange. The ROI (return of interest) has been so great over the past 15 years it has brought many people to want a piece of this ‘gold’ mine, or should I say ‘Lego’ mine. This comes from the joy of having bought a Lego set for what could be only a couple hundreds of pounds and over time it turns into a fortune. It unleashes your inner kid both in the joy and of everyone’s love of Lego it had brought them as a kid.

Examples:
If we look at the Millenium Falcon set from 2007, it was a high end UCS (ultimate collectors edition) set and was sold at around $500, which can be seen as a massive investment into a pile of bricks. However if you were one of the few to buy the set, and not made it, if you were to resell it today, you could gain up to $15000. Now if that doesn’t tempt you, let’s look at the Cloud City Lego set, which at the time of release, can be sold for a couple hundred dollars but nowadays is upwards of $30000. This is due to investors and collectors finding these sets highly desirable and finding that this drives the price up.
Employee Sets:
If we begin to look at another exclusive line, the employee sets, increase in value more so. These are limited edition given to employees at important dates for instant anniversaries and Christmas, these days are where some of the most desirable sets are released and can be sold for over $10000 when given out for free.

Now for possibly the most incredible increase is the collectors dream, of Mr Gold. This was a mini-figure released in set for only £5 and only 500 were made. This has now become the sign of a very important collector and is almost the validation of being a collector. These can now be sold for over £10000. These are gold covered mini-figures and are now the holy grail of Lego mini-figures,

Why does Lego even have this investment potential?
One of the major factors is the nostalgia of people who in their later age come acxrosss lego sets from their youth and are will to spend a lot to obrtain these.
However not all Lego investments are positive, market trends fluctuate greatly, almost as much as leaving a toddler in a lego city and wanting them to not destroy it. Damage in transport or storage is also a risk as when damaged the price can fall by as much as half making some sets almost worthless.

So for the next time you look at a Lego set, think. Would you really be just buying a set for enjoyment, no! you would be possibly buying the most lucrative investment you could ever own. Now I hope you can all build your own destiny, one brick at a time.
