Regardless of what music your into, its been a year of nonstop releases from some of the biggest artists. Today were here to look at what’s already dropped and what’s still to come.

Rapper and producer duo Future and Metro Boomin treated fans with two knew collaborative albums this year, titled We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. Having a strong and consistent musical history together they didn’t disappoint. Their first album was filled with trap rap bangers and of course had their inescapable song Like That, featuring Kendrick Lamar which started the biggest and arguably most important rap ‘beef’ of all time. Along with the Kendrick feature they also had the help of Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, The Weeknd and Rick Ross. Their second album had Future in his more melodic bag, reminiscent of his 2017 project HNDRXX. Furthermore, as of last Friday Future continues to feed his fans with a new project: MIXTAPE PLUTO, a project reminiscent to his older grimy autotuned sound.
Following on from Like That, a series of singles targeted back and forth at each other from Kendrick and Drake perused, with the beef climaxing with the song Not Like Us by Kendrick, which broke the record for the fastest rap song to reach 100 million streams on Spotify: only 9 days.
Excluding the hype from the rap beef, other great albums from rappers have released. Blue Lips by Schoolboy Q is a very entertaining lyrically deep album, described by Pitchfork as his “rawest and most adventurous music of his career”. Don Toliver released a new album Hardstone Psycho which continues to grow on his aesthetic as well as as including singles with great replay value. He received features from the likes of his record label owner Travis Scott, Future, Kodak Black, Teezo Touchdown, Metro Boomin and more. JPEGMAFIA released another great album with I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU, with his typically incredible production and lyricism.
Of course, this year we received two new albums from Kanye West, both collaborative projects with Ty Dolla $ign. These projects were varied, having high highs and very low lows. A similar case is Eminem’s return, with The Death of Slim Shady, which like Ye is nothing like music from his peak yet has some worth within it and will certainly have value for his die-hard fans.

It was a great year for pop also, with a new album from Billie Eilish. HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, of course had the, massive hit BIRDS OF A FEATHER, which was inescapable all over social media for a good few months. Ariana Grande released her seventh studio album eternal sunshine to both critical and mainstream success.

Beyonce also released an album this year, COWBOY CARTER with her first country album. This was a follow up to her 2022 album Renaissance and is the second in her trilogy. The album featured numerous country icons as well as Post Malone, who also released a country album F-1 Trillion this year.
Its been hard to not hear about Charlie XCX the last few months and the ‘brat summer’ she’s inspired. Her latest album BRAT features a mix of electronic pop which already has a cult like appeal. The aesthetic that comes with the album has clearly resonated with people who have a rebellious, confident attitude.
