If you asked any Oasis fan earlier this year whether they thought a reunion was on the cards, even the most optimistic would say no – the constant digs on twitter from brother to brother, and the major success of their individual solo careers suggested the band would never perform together again.
But all that was about to change. Fans started to hope again after Noel’s divorce from Sara McDonald with the guitarist losing £20M. Additionally, Sara and Liam hated each other – If Noel finally decided to work with his brother again, he could get his money back in addition to spiting his Ex-wife. It would be the perfect situation for the oasis songwriter.
Rumours of a reunion were further sparked by a cryptic reddit post in late July, where a user claimed that Oasis was planning ten gigs in Wembley stadium and Heaton park in summer 2025. Liam further added to the speculation with a post on X, the same day as the reddit claims. It read “One small step for man, one giant leap for ROCK N’ ROLL”. For many fans, this was it. These two events happening on the same day seemed like more than a coincidence, and with many media further pushing the reunion, Fans truly believed the band was back for the first time since 2009.
And 2 weeks later it was confirmed. At reading festival, once Liam had left the stage, a sign appeared on the screen, that was later posted on the oasis X account, in addition to Liam and Noel’s:

The post was a date and time; 8am on the 27th of August. Fans knew this was the moment they had been waiting for, 15 years after the row in Paris, the brothers would finally be together again.
The rumours were finally confirmed that Tuesday, with photos released of the brothers together again. The wait was over, the band was back, and all seemed right once more with Britpop. But there were still more questions to be answered – if the Gallagher brothers were back, who would be joining them on stage?
Bonehead and Gem Archer are the only 2 confirmed former members to be joining the reunion – it is expected that bonehead will be purely on rhythm guitar, and Gem playing rhythm with the exception of the most complicated solos which he will most likely help Noel with.
However, in Oasis gigs in the past such as Knebworth, another guitarist has come on for ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘I am the Walrus’. This will most likely be Gem, however fans will speculate another guitar legend could come on for the encore, such as Johnny Marr, John Squire or Paul Weller.
One question that has not been passed around as much as others is who will take bass guitar for the band – the current favourite is Andy Bell however diehard fans are hoping that original member Guigsy may make an appearance. This is just speculation, as Guigsy has only been seen once in the last 25 years since his departure from Oasis in 1999, but fans are still hoping to see the closest lineup to the original as possible.
Finally, there seem to be two names constantly flying around for the drummer on next year’s tour: Alan White and Zac Starkey. Alan White is the underdog, considering he has had no involvement with either of the brothers since he left the band in 2005. However, he did recently post for the first time in a while on Instagram a photo of a drum kit that he played during Oasis days. This sparked hope for fans that the well-loved drummer would be back for one more tour. Zac Starkey (Son of Ringo) seems like the obvious choice however – the drummer is known as the ‘best live drummer the band has ever had’, suggesting if Oasis want the greatest sound possible they should hire him.
In conclusion, the lineup of the band does not matter to most – no matter who joins them, the Gallagher brothers are 2 of the greatest musicians of all time and whoever joins them on stage will not change the fact it will be a tour like no other.
