The RGS Global Journalism Competition invites students across all RGS Guildford schools
to take part in an international writing challenge.
A Letter to Future Me
WRITE. REFLECT. SHAPE TOMORROW.
This year’s RGS Global Journalism Competition invites students across all RGS Guildford
schools – in Guildford, Nanjing, Muscat, Qatar and Dubai – to write an original article in the
form of a letter to their future selves.
We encourage creative freedom in your work, however it may be helpful to consider the
following when writing:
- The world you hope to live in
- The challenges you expect to face
- The responsibilities you have to shape your future

Although the format is a letter, the piece should display strong journalistic qualities: reflection
informed by awareness of global issues, a sense of curiosity about the future and above all, clarity
of purpose.
In order to enter, please submit the following form: RGS Student Global Competitions
Guidelines
- Open to students aged 12-18 (Years 7–13) across all RGS Guildford schools
- Articles must be original and written individually
- Include a title and a byline (your name and school)
- Maximum 200-400 words
- All entries must be submitted by 31st December 2025
